K-Laser is an FDA cleared therapeutic treatment that manages pain and inflammation while accelerating tissue regeneration. Laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasm, stiffness and pain. We’ve added K-Laser therapy to our practice because we want to provide an effective and safe treatment option for our patients to heal quickly, recover fully, and reduce pain effectively.
What is Laser Therapy?
There is no sedation or restraint required. It is a painless application of infrared laser light that interacts with tissues at a cellular level to help increase circulation to an affected area by drawing oxygen and nutrients from the blood, to enhance the healing process; reducing pain, inflammation, muscle spasms and stiffness.
What can Laser Therapy help with?
To name a few……Osteoarthritis, Joint pain, Sprains, Wound healing, Hip & Elbow Dysplasia and Post Orthopaedic Surgical recovery (Patella repairs, Cruciate Surgery, Arthroscopy)
Does it hurt?
No. The patient will feel little or no sensation during treatment or possibly occasional tingling, warmth or soothing. Your pet may feel improvement after their first treatment, sometimes it can take a couple of sessions- this doesn’t mean it isn’t working! Laser therapy, like hydrotherapy, is cumulative and most patients require more than 1 treatment.
What does the treatment involve and how frequent?
You will require a 20-30minute appointment up to 3 times a week for chronic pain management; this will taper to once every week as the patient progresses. The number of treatments required depends on the nature of the condition. Acute pain may require 1-2 treatments. Chronic pain may require 5-8 treatments. Each individual treatment will last anywhere between 3-8 minutes of laser application.
When will my pet start feeling better?
Some changes may be noticed after only one treatment, but most people will notice a reduction in pain by treatment three.
How long will the effects last?
- When there is a reduction in pain it will usually last from 24 to 48 hours.
- For acute cases therapy is usually finished after the first treatment series
- For chronic cases therapy may need to be administered monthly on an ongoing basis to maintain results.
Are the K-Laser treatments painful?
K-Laser treatments are very soothing. Your pet will feel a mild warming sensation.
Why should I try Laser Therapy?
Has your pet shown any intolerance to medication or incomplete pain reduction? Do they still have difficulty getting around despite trying alternatives? Then they may be an ideal candidate for Laser therapy. Please speak to one of our hydrotherapists, collect a leaflet from reception or visit http://www.klaser.co.uk/ for more information
